I started reading UP TO ME the day it came out and quickly lost myself in the world of Mayhew Manor, a modern-day castle on the shores of Seneca Lake in wine country. Let me tell you, I am dying to take a swim in the perfect-for-making-out rock-lined pool in the Manor, I would kill for a big cup of coffee at the General Store, and I WANT A GLASS OF WINE from the Manor vineyard. I also wouldn't mind some spirits from the distillery, owned by a small town hottie and excellent hero bait. Yes, indeed, Christi built an engaging small-town world, and I can't wait to visit it again!

If you like your books heavy on the romance, you'll love UP TO ME. Although the hero and heroine indulge their senses and don't shy away from admitting the down-and-dirty realness of their attraction, the actual full-on naked stuff happened later in the book than I was expecting. At first I was impatient. The hero, Graydon Locke, is an amazing kisser. My mouth watered as I read the make-out scenes. I wanted them to do the deed! But then I was charmed by the old-fashioned, delightful romance going on before my eyes. *sigh* I kept racing ahead (because I'm a dirty bird) but I may have to read it all over again. Just so I can appreciate how well it was put together, anticipate the next books, and swoon over the truly perfect last sentence. Swoony romance, real heat, and a charming small town world make this a fantastic read!

Ella Mayhew is the young owner of Mayhew Manor, a hotel that looks like a castle. Ella's been locked up in herself since her parents tragic death three years ago. When she spots a good looking stranger running across the grounds of the hotel, her hormones kick in.

Graydon "Gray" Locke is a corporate hitman; his routine, go undercover and assess the business, recommend it for closure and vamoose. When Gray spots Ella, he is captivated. Well that captivation is trouble with a capital T for Gray who is supposed to be assessing the business, not the attractive owner.

Gray's been lying to Ella since the beginning and falling in love. Ella will do anything to save her family legacy, Mayhew Manor, but does that include turning her back on true love.

The story was sweet, Gray and Ella are rocking the love at first sight romance. Ella and Gray are very sweet, Gray fully won me over when he admits his favorite Disney movie was "The Little Mermaid" and that he used to dress up as Prince Eric when he was a kid. That right there won me over. In the story we meet Ella's friends who soon become friends with Gray; and these people are a real riot. The way they act is very realistic, made me think of my friends and how "shut up" never works. This is book 1 in a new series and if this book is anything to go by, the series looks promising. I am hoping the next book in the series will follow Ella's friends Piper and Ward, there were some real fireworks going on there.

"Up to Me" is the first book that I've read written by Christi Barth. It's a good book. It's the first book in her "Shore Secrets" series and can be read as a stand-alone book. "Up to Me" takes place in the small town of Seneca Lake. There, we meet Ella Mayhew and Graydon Locke.

Ella Mayhew inherited the Mayhew Manor after her parents passed away. She's having trouble keeping up with payments and maintaining the manor because it's getting expensive. Right from the start, you get sucked in to the story because hello! Ella and her friend are gawking at a shirtless Graydon Locke, who happens to be jogging outside the manor! Gray notices them and pays them a visit. Immediately, you can tell there was an attraction between Gray and Ella.

Gray introduced himself to Ella by saying he was on vacation, but really, that's not the truth. His job, Ruffano & McIntosh, made him go there in an undercover assignment to see whether or not Mayhew Manor should be closed. Gray thought this would be like every other undercover assignment he's done, but he quickly realizes it's different. He cares about Ella. Their relationship quickly heats up, but how can Ella forgive him after she finds out that he came there on assignment to possibly take away the manor that meant so much to her parents?

One thing I enjoyed about this book is the quirkiness of this town. You meet several of Ella's friends. Everyone knew everyone else's business and was looking out for each other. They always gave advice whether it was from Ella's friend texting all of her other friends asking whether or not Ella should go out with Gray to the Mailbox where you can write letters and the townspeople will respond back on it with their opinions.

"Up to Me" was endearing. It was a quick read for me, and it contained several funny moments and hot scenes. It was lighthearted. I would have rated it more, but I felt the story dragged towards the end. I do look forward to the next book in this series which will feature Wade and Piper!
