Capitola Peril A Sequel to 'The Hidden Hand' edition by Emma Dorothy Eliza Nevitte Southworth Reference eBooks Reviews

Capitola's Peril and Sequel to 'The Hidden Hand' is well worth reading. 'The Hidden Hand' is a good read, but you definitely need to read this book to finish the story. These are the first of Emma Southworth's books I've read, but I plan to read more of her work.
If you already purchased THE HIDDEN HAND from Lamplighter Publishers DO NOT purchase this book! It is simply the last half of the book you already own.
This book is incredible. Almost no words describe how oddly fascinating the characters and plot are. Totally love the series and the author, Emma Southworth.
The Capitola books are hilarious stories centered (primarily) on the strong heroine Capitola. The secondary plotline following Clara isn't nearly as interesting, but the story as a whole is well worth the read. Would be nice if both books were in one e-version, my print copy contains both.
This was an excellent ending to the book Hidden Hand. I would read these two together as one book. When I read the Hidden Hand, I was so upset, because the ending didn't really end, it just dropped you! Then the first chapter of Capitola's Peril picked up right as if it were the next chapter. That said, read as a whole, this was a wonderful book about how God takes bad things and turns them around for good, and how He does hear you and will provide for you if you only let him. It was action packed and exciting, I would gasp or laugh or say "oh my" and my boys would want to know what was going on. I ended up reading several chapters aloud to them, because they kept asking, what's happening next? Can you keep reading? So I would recommend it.
Excellent story. Well written with many twisting plots. This is a sequel; although it seemed more like the second half of the original novel, so make sure you get both at the same time.
A wonderful combination of Mystery, intrigue, romance, and historical fiction; with the added bonus of no foul language or "R" rated content. Highly recommended story (both books=story). I have read a few of her other books and found them equally enjoyable.
The Hidden Hand and Capitola's Peril were very good, but not as good as Ishmael, In the Depths and Self-Raised, Out of the Depths by Emma Southworth. Those were the first books I read by this author and totally loved them. So Hidden Hand and Capitola's Perils do not compare. But they were good. The only thing I didn't like about them is that in Hidden Hand I had trouble keeping all the characters straight, who was related to who, etc. After reading the first one, I re-read it! I didn't want to start reading the second one not knowing who was who! And I took notes to refer back to! So after I did that, Capitola's Peril was excellent! But still not as good as Ishmael and Self-Raised. I love this author. I wish her books could be found at the public libraries, but alas, they can't. I highly recommend Emma Southworth!
