The book starts out intruiging, but then it starts to get boring and cheesy and predictable. The characters are distinct, but not particularly new, interesting, or likable, especially Jane, who is selish and mean and annoying. Emily is mildly more likable than Jane, but she doesn't have as big a part in the story as Jane, and her personailty is twisted by the supposed baddie of the book, Greg, who is totally uninteresting and cliche. I mean, the guy who kills his family because he thinks they don't love him as much as his shining star of a twin brother? Not to mention the fact Greg is the "evil twin." Riiight. Never seen that before.

As for Max...he's all right, I guess. He has no life of personality outside of his obsession with Jane, who he fell in love with when she was a little girl and he...well...wasn't. If that isn't creepy, it's so corny I'm practically blowing popcorn out of my ears. And the dialogue Max has...? Um. Lovestruck idiot, much? Jane can insult him until the sky falls and he'll never get mad at her.

Wes is extremely boring. Although I liked the idea of a shapeshifter that can turn into anything; that was cool and fairly original. His sudden realization that Emily is the sister he loves and not Jane was random and unbelievable, as well as...silly. I don't see them together, don't see their connection. I don't see Jane and Max's connection either.

The book is sooo long. By the time I was halfway through, I was bored with both the characters and the story. It had no...emotion. I felt nothing when I read it.

There are also a lot of grammatical/formatting errors that are rather distracting.

Knight Angels Book One Book of Love Abra Ebner Christina Corlett Tessa Rei 9780982272589 Books Reviews

I really liked this book, at first it was a tad confusing for me but after a few "chapters" I started to really get into it. Max and Jane's story is amazing something that really gets your attention and wanting to know what happens next. Greg well he is a character that really gets under my skin (not in a good way) strongly don't like him. I really recommend this book to fans of love stories that aren't all physical and have a really great story line. Can't wait to read the next one!!
There was actually a decent storyline in this book. It was buried deep but it was there.

The storyline starts off interestingly enough but about a 1/3 of the way in...the characters become so unlikeable. And the storyline becomes convoluted like the author changed her mind about the direction of the book halfway through and started changing the motivations of the characters. Max said for half the book the reason he saved Jane was because it was his choice. Then he tells her he saved her because her father asked him to save her. Then he says he did it because he wanted her. Greg started out wanting to just screw with his brother, then it became about the war, by the end of the book it was for a 3rd undisclosed reason. And don't get me started on Wes and Emily....

The phrasing of the sentences was just bad. It sounded like a 13 year old wrote them. (If a 13 year old wrote this book then I apologize and everything is great...for a 13 year old writer). The book was just badly in need of an editor.

The best thing about the book was the differnt POV's. I found that really enjoyable. I just wish the storyline and characters had stayed consistant throughout the book.
Okay, this was a pretty good YA paranormal romance. The only reason I did not love it is because of it jumping around from one character to the other's point of view. This became somewhat confusing especially when you put it down and go back to it later. You have to remember from whose point of view you are reading. However, it did not take away from how great the story was and I still enjoyed it.

There are five main characters in this story, Max, Greg, Jane, Emily and Wes. Max is the good Angel brother who loves Jane and has been her guardian since he saved her from the accident that killed her father when she was a child. The main focus of the story is their romance. Jane is a depressed moody girl who has the power to see other people's deaths. She has very few friends. She worries about her sister who for most of the story, seems to hate her, and her relationship with her best friend Wes is strained because she does not return his feelings of love for her. Wes has unexplained pain that turns out to be something very paranormal. He gets over his love for Jane and starts to have feelings for her sister, Emily who has feelings for him and helps him through what he is going through. Emily is Jane's drug addict sister who can hear people's thoughts and puts on a tough, "I don't give a crap" exterior to hide her true self from everyone. Lastly, there is Greg, who is the bad Angel and Max's brother who wants nothing more than to hurt Max by trying to get to Jane through her sister Emily.

It's a good story and well worth the money. It is left with a sort of cliffhanger that will ensure that there will be a follow up to this story.
I liked all the main characters Max, Jane, Wes, and Emily. But I didn't feel quite as connected to Max and Jane as I did Wes and Emily. Maybe it's because Max and Jane's relationship started off similarly to what I've read in other books. And I guess I felt more drawn to the other type of relationship I don't believe I've read about before. Wes and Emily had some pretty hot moments that I loved! There is, however, a major difference in Max and Jane's relationship that I think sets them apart from the couples in those other books, and it's this Jane isn't so...innocent! Max on the other hand... haha Well, I really liked that! Because usually the boy has more experience or both are just "new to this," if you know what I mean.

I really wanted to know more about the angels and other beings, especially Jane's father and Greg. I am feeling a bit iffy about Greg's reason for why he turned against his family. I don't know... It didn't seem hardcore; hopefully, there's more to it. But other than that, I really enjoyed this book, and I wouldn't mind reading the sequel.
